About Me

Hello, my name is Quinn Damerell and I am currently a senior in computer science at Purdue University. I grew up in Fort Wayne Indiana, and then moved up to Kendallville Indiana in middle school. I graduated from East Noble High School in 2008, and will graduate from Purdue University in the spring of 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.

Throughout my entire life I have shared a love for theater with my family. I started my first technical theater job as a sound mixer in 5th grade, and by the time I graduated from East Noble High School I was the Technical Director for our theater and the Co-Technical Director of the Miss Indiana Pageant. Since then, I have been pursuing a technical theater minor here at Purdue, specializing in theater lighting design.

On the computing front, my knowledge of Computer Science spans many different languages and platforms. In the summer of 2010 I had an internship with Raytheon in Fort Wayne Indiana where I was ranked second out of twenty-two interns for overall performance. In following summer of 2011 I had an internship with Microsoft in Seattle Washington. My role was a software design engineer intern working on the Window Phone 7 platform in the web browser team. Following the internship, I have accepted a full time job after college with Microsoft on the Windows Phone platform. I will be working as a software design engineer with the same team in the web browser division.

I have created countless projects in my free time that are listed on my Projects page. These projects span a variety of platforms from Android, to Windows Phone, to Windows, to the Web, and thus span a variety of languages. In total, across Android and Windows Phone, my apps have received over 110,000 downloads.

At Purdue I have been a very active member in the Computer Science society. My junior year I was the treasure for Purdue Linux Users Group (PLUG), and in my senior year I became the president of PLUG. My two current goals for my senior year as president of PLUG are to create a strong social group that is able to provide assistance to CS and other majors with Linux, and also to help unify all of the computer science originations by creating a single channel for computer science majors to get information from all of the computer science originations. Doing so will increase the turnout of computer science majors at all of the origination’s events, and also provide a social setting where computer science majors can get to know one another better.

Through all of that activity I still make sure to find an ample amount of time to enjoy my life and spend time with my friends and family. I really enjoy seeing theater productions of all types, and going out with my friends at night. I constantly strive to make the most out of every moment of my life, and to optimize all of the amazing opportunities I have had and will have in the future.
